Email Migration Questions
What does an email migration service do?
It moves your email data from one system to another: messages, calendars, contacts and related items, for example from Exchange, Lotus Notes or Gmail to Office 365, Google Workspace or another mail server. It is typically needed when a company changes provider or upgrades its email setup, and done properly the move is smooth, downtime stays minimal and nothing is corrupted on the way.
How long will it take?
That depends on data volume, how complex your setup is, connection speed and the method used. Most small and mid-sized teams are finished within a few days; a small business can take from a few hours to a couple of days, while large organisations with a lot of data may need several weeks of planning and execution. Our assessment gives you a firmer timeline.
What are the steps?
Back up the existing mail, prepare the new platform (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or similar), run the transfer with IMAP or platform-specific tools, move emails, contacts and calendars, then verify that everything arrived.
Will email stop working during the move?
We keep any interruption as short as possible. A brief gap can occur at the final cutover, when mail begins flowing to the new system, so we schedule it outside busy hours and can use staged or hybrid approaches that let users keep access throughout.
Is our data secure during migration?
Yes. Transfers use encrypted connections and secure protocols and follow established privacy and security practice. As an extra safeguard, keep your own backup of the mail before the migration begins.
Which migration tool is best?
It depends on the source and destination. Common options are Microsoft's Exchange migration tools, Google Workspace Data Migration Service and IMAP migration tools. For business mail, a professional service is usually the safer route to accuracy and zero data loss.
Can accounts move between providers, including from Office 365 or Google Workspace?
Yes, for example from Gmail to Microsoft 365 or from an IMAP server to Google Workspace, and both Office 365 and Google Workspace are fully supported as sources. Emails, folders, contacts and calendars are transferred with the folder structure preserved.
Could any emails go missing?
No. Everything is copied to the new platform and checked before we change your MX records.
Can you migrate email on a .qa domain?
Yes. The domain extension makes no difference to the migration itself. If your .qa domain's DNS is managed elsewhere, we coordinate the record changes with you at cutover.
Can we be invoiced in QAR?
Yes. Migration work is billed in Qatari riyals through the client portal.
